ACTIVITIES
SCOPE OF SOCIAL CAPITALIST NETWORK ACTIVITIES

NATIONALLY & INTERNATIONALLY

The following numbered paragraphs present a concise description of the SCN’s organisational strategy –

............................................................................................1
The Social Capitalist Network (SCN) will comprise independent Circles, each of which have been authorised by the Central Office. Each Circle will be led by a Facilitator, officially endorsed to establish the SCN locally, normally within a geographical area circumscribed as a parliamentary constituency. A Circle would constitute a minimum of 5 persons.

............................................................................................2
Although membership is open to all persons of 16 and over, irrespective of their present country of residence, those applying for the post of Facilitator must be nationals of the countries in which they are currently resident and intend to be active in on behalf of the association.

............................................................................................3
As soon as a Circle has been established its members may draw up a list of rules defining its territory, conduct, and governance, and may raise a local subscription rate to cover essential expenses as postage, stationery, etc. As a suggested guideline, annual subscriptions in local currency might be:- Waged: £5.00; €7.00; US$9.00; Unwaged: £2.50; €3.50; US$4.50.

............................................................................................4
The SCN appreciates the wide diversity of political systems and differing attitudes to political activity throughout our global village, and with this in mind is conscious of the fact that the sensitivities of nation states should be respected.

............................................................................................5
Hence Circles need to be established within the legal framework of the territories in which they are based, particularly with regard to registration with the relevant administrative authorities and the necessary licenses (if applicable) to engage in political or any other activity entailing formal organisation.

............................................................................................6
The Central Office cannot be deemed responsible for violations of the law by Facilitators or other members of the SCN, although it will remain answerable without prejudice to any state authority notifying infringements of existing legislation, and will communicate reminders or advice to members accordingly.

............................................................................................7
The SCN is not a political party and its members must ensure that no such impression is conveyed in pursuing its activities. In each nation state an established parliamentary groups should be identified through which the Social Capitalist Network chooses to exert its political and educational influence.

............................................................................................8
It is preferable but not necessary that members and especially Facilitators should already belong to such accredited political parties, and proclaim that through the SCN they are intent on achieving the best or real purposes of those parties.

............................................................................................9
SCN members may be divided into two separate categories: a) Those who do not belong to any political party and may choose to remain free of any such membership, to be denominated, Independents, and, b) Those who are members of an established parliamentary grouping, or who choose in the future to join such a grouping, to be denominated, Political Activists, and neither category shall be deemed as subordinate to the other.

............................................................................................10
Whilst the commitment of both categories will be to the underlying principles and practice of Social Capitalism above all other political priorities, Independents will concentrate on the proselytising and educational function of changing the political ideas of the population at large, whilst otherwise remaining politically passive; whilst Political Activists will seek the actualisation of Social Capitalism through accredited parliamentary groups.

............................................................................................11
Those not yet incorporated into a Circle will be denominated, Sole Members and although no member is obliged to join a Circle such membership is recommended if within the locality of a member.

............................................................................................12
Both Sole Members and Circles are encouraged to engage as equal partners in the following activities locally:- approach relevant political groups, trades unions, professional bodies, the churches of all religions, teachers, medical professionals and their administrators, lawyers, accountants, business people, and all others concerned for the future of humanity and our planet, with regard to considering and then studying the principles and practice of Social Capitalism.

............................................................................................13
Circles will meet on a regular basis, weekly or monthly, in members’ homes or hired rooms, for the discussion of different aspects of Social Capitalist theory or practice; or for the application of Social Capitalist principles to the resolution of current issues; or to listen to invited speakers; or for the study of the SCN’s source books; or for other relevant educational activities.

............................................................................................14
The 4 source books of the SCN are available to members for re-sale at 20% discount on the provision they are offered at their full retail price to members of the public. This arrangement is available to members when they purchase 2 copies upwards of any one title, and no charge is made for packing or postage. (See Membership for details of discounted prices.) Members are reminded to make a tax declaration for all profits made from the sale of the association’s literature.

............................................................................................15
Facilitators will be enabled to hold stocks of the SCN’s publications on behalf of their Circles, and may oversee split commission arrangements for sales achieved by other members of their Circles.

............................................................................................16
As soon as a number of Circles have been established in a country, Facilitators and other members may cooperate for National and Regional organisation for the purpose of hosting larger scale events or tasks as: Seminars; Conferences; mass meetings, or publicity campaigns.

............................................................................................17
The Central Office will fulfil the following functions:- promote SCN membership and the establishment of Circles, nationally and internationally; negotiate for the translation and publication of the source books and other Social Capitalist literature worldwide; update members on the progress of the association; initiate courses and other educational projects; prioritise discussion topics and circulate members on these; endorse the appointment of Continental and overseas representatives to establish National Offices to integrate SCN activities within specific territories; authorise nationally-based foreign language SCN websites; organise Conferences; communicate and respond to the ideas of individual members; and engage in other activities as need arises in accordance with the purposes of the association.
