HOW IS SOCIAL CAPITALISM TO BE ACHIEVED IN THE INDUSTRIALISED ECONOMIES OF THE 21ST CENTURY?
The tetralogy and essential source material, comprising the theory and practice of Social Capitalism, authored by Robert Corfe, are listed below in recommended reading order. The titles following the tetralogy are other publications written from a Social Capitalist standpoint.
Robert Corfe is amongst the most incisive political thinkers of our time, not only because he foresaw the debt-fuelled financial crisis and the inevitable collapse of rentier capitalism as we know it from the early days of the Thatcherite era, but more significantly, because he formulated from empirical data a Productive or Social Capitalism for the 21st century. The analyses and long-term predictions of his many pamphlets dating from the 1980s, published by the Campaign for Industry, have proven remarkable for their striking accuracy.
But Corfe is more than just an industrial publicist and author of economic texts. He is a social thinker and political philosopher of considerable breadth. He has demonstrated not merely the futility but the destructiveness of class politics based on the left/right divide. He has identified the new Middle-middle majority and the emergence of the Responsible Society which must reclaim power from the usurious financicers in creating a free, just, and equitable society for humanity throughout our planet. In his cosmological approach to the human condition he argues that all values must ultimately be directed towards the science of ethics. (See biographical sketch on the SCN’s Founder page.)
